ACA Regulations

A concrete vault, or one recommended by the funeral home is required.
An annual contribution of $25 or more would be appreciated from a relative who has anyone buried in the cemetery. These monies will be used to maintain the cemetery.
The Abshier Cemetery Association strongly urges family members to erect headstones within one (1) year to prevent damage to the gravesite.
No glass containers will be allowed; plastic or terra cotta should be used.
No living shrubs, bushes, plants, or trees are to be planted beside individual graves. Already established plants are to be trimmed to a compact size and kept that way. Failure of the family to do this will result in the maintenance crew charging said family $15 each time trimming must be done.
Live floral arrangements should be cleaned up after one (1) week; silk/plastic arrangements should be removed when faded or damaged. The Association asks that consideration be given to using clips or saddles on upright headstones. Any ground level containers must be in line with the headstone. This eliminates damage to containers or danger to the maintenance crew.
During spring and fall clean-up, the Association reserves the right to remove and dispose of any containers, flowers, or other adornments which are broken, faded, or otherwise detract from the appearance of the cemetery or pose a danger to the maintenance crew.
As a privately owned organization, the Abshier Cemetery Association reserves the right to grant or withhold permission for burial to any family requesting a plot who will not agree to abide by these regulations.

ACA Bylaws

Sec. 1 The Abshier Cemetery Association shall be a body to corporate within itself and shall be protected and governed by a board of officers which shall be composed of a president, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer and five (5) trustees, none of whom shall receive compensation for their services.

Sec. 2 The officers shall meet regularly at some selected place for the purpose of transacting business. The president shall preside over and keep order while in session or, in the case of his absence, then the vice president shall act in his place.

Sec. 3 The Abshier Cemetery Association shall have a bound blank book to be used as a book of Record in which shall be recorded a copy of these bylaws. The secretary shall record the minutes of the proceedings of business transactions of each meeting.

Sec. 4 The treasurer of the Abshier Cemetery Association shall have charge of all monies belonging to said association and pay claims from any person holding a voucher or check for a specified amount showing what it is for and signed by an officer of the association.

Sec. 5 The trustees of the Abshier Cemetery Association shall have the responsibility of laying plans for all work necessary for making improvements; building or repairing fences or roads; making contracts for material an labor; and obtaining estimates for the cost of each item. All such items must be brought before the Board for their approval.

Sec. 6 All persons having relatives buried in the Abshier Cemetery are eligible to become a member of this association.

Sec. 7 The Abshier Cemetery Association shall hold meetings annually or whenever necessary for the purpose of electing officers and trustees for said association. Those so elected shall hold their offices for two (2) years or until their successors are elected.

Sec. 8 The Board of Trustees, by a vote of the majority of the entire Board, may at anytime adopt, alter, change or amend any of these bylaws. Such change must be voted on by the members of the Association at the next meeting, whether regular or a special meeting called for that purpose.
